Hurricane Irma update, Thursday, September 7, 2017
A hurricane watch has been issued for Broward County, with mandatory evacuations for residents east of US1.
MPT continues to monitor the progress of category 5 Hurricane Irma. We will cease all operations and classes this afternoon and be closed until at least Monday.
We will continue to post updates with information regarding MPT status and when we will reopen on both our website and Facebook pages as early as possible after the storm has safely passed.
Our first and main priority is the safety of our students and staff. We urge all of our students to remain vigilant and follow the instructions being provided by emergency personnel for your own safety.
We are aware that airport closures and cancelled flights may affect your ability to arrive here for classes beginning early next week. All reschedule fees will be waived and we will work with everyone to ensure timely completion of classes that may have been delayed due to the storm.
In the meantime, we are hopeful that this “once in a generation storm” - as it is being called – will avoid a direct hit to the south Florida area.
Email messages and phone messages will not be not be returned until after the storm has passed and everyone is safely returned to work.
