Course Description

Flashing Light/Visual Signaling Examination - Course #109
 

This course is required for all Able Seamen upgrading to Mate / OICNW. This ½ day class, “Visual Communications (Flashing Light)”, explains how to use the international code of signals book and assesses the candidate in reading Morse code signals sent by light and in the use of Pub 102 in decoding Morse code signals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Any applicant who has successfully completed our Visual Communications (Flashing Light) (MARTPT-542) course will satisfy the Visual Signaling training requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(vi) and 11.319(a)(4)(vi), if the course completion certificate is presented within 5 years of the completion of training; AND will be considered to have successfully demonstrated the equivalent of Tasks 8.1 and 8.2 in NVIC 12-14 (Ch 1) for an STCW, as amended 2010 endorsement as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch.  Applicants who have successfully completed your course need not present a completed assessment sheet for these assessments in application for STCW certification.
