Course Description

Search and Rescue (SAR): OICNW - Course #209
 
This 2 day course provides the candidate with knowledge of the contents of the International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue Manual (IAMSAR), and the procedures necessary to respond to a distress signal at sea.
 
This course will satisfy the following:
  • The respond to a "Distress Signal at Sea" training requirements of Table A-II/1 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010; and 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(iii); AND
  • The assessment tasks 6.1 from NVICs 12-14(Ch-2), 6.1.A from NVIC 02-18, and assessment tasks 3.7.A and 4.1.A from NVIC 13-14(Ch-l); AND
  • The requirements of Table A-II/3 of the STCW Code, as amended, and 46 CFR 11.317 for certification as a Master on Vessels of Less Than 500 GT Limited to Near Coastal Waters and 11.321 for OICNW on Vessels of Less Than 500 GT Limited to Near Coastal Waters.
 
Applicants who have successfully completed our course need not present completed Task Control Sheets for these assessments in application for STCW certification.
