The (PSCRB) Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats course gives seafarers who are required to take charge of a survival craft or a rescue boat (other than fast rescue boats) in emergency situations the essential education and training to meet the regulatory standards for the tasks required. USCG and MCA approved. Please note that current Basic Training is a prerequisite for this course.

Course Description
Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats/Lifeboatman - Course #146
This 4 day USCG, MCA (requires 6 months of sea service)& Marshall Islands Approved Course includes theory and practical training and assessment utilizing MPT’s RHIB’s and various Survival Craft including the new MPT Waterside Lifeboat Facility. Please note that current Basic Training is a prerequisite for this course.
Any applicant who has successfully completed your Proficiency in Survival Craft (MARTPT-372) course will satisfy:
- The training, practical demonstration, and written examination requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(3) for endorsement as Lifeboatman, PROVIDED that this training was completed within one year of the date of application; AND
- The Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) training requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(v), 11.319(a)(4)(v), 11.321(a)(3)(iii), 11.329(a)(4)(iii), and 11.335(a)(3)(iii); AND
- The Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) standards of competence required by 46 CFR 12.613; STCW Code Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-1, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 04-14(Ch-2) Tasks 1.1.A, 1.2.A, 1.3.A, 1.3.B, 1.3.C, 1.3.D, 1.4.A, 1.4.C, 1.5.A, 1.6.A, 1.8.A, 1.9.A, 2.1.A, 3.1.A, 3.1.B, 3.2.A, 3.3.A, 3.4.A, 3.5.A, 3.5.B, 3.6.A, 3.7.A, 3.8.A, 4.1.A, 4.1.B, and 4.2.A.

For those needing MCA approved course- 6 months of sea service is required.

Photo ID, Paper, Pencil, Pen, Highlighters, Bathing Suit / Shorts, sunscreen, hat, and towel Candidates taking this course are required to bring the following clothing for the practical lifeboat launching assessments: Long pants and closed toed shoes. MPT will provide the use of a work vest, hard hat, gloves, and eye protection or you can bring your own.

Ive take 3 courses this past month, and they were great! The instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly. I hope to god I never need the information the Russ has conveyed to me but if I do Im sure that all subject matter was well received and absorbed I have taken several classes at four different schools and by far the is the best facility I have attended the subject matter the professionalism of the staff and my instructor was beyond my expectations I am looking forward to the next three months of my required classes for my five hundred ton upgrade and over the next year my required classes to upgrade to my sixteen hundred ton
