Course Description

Stability & Ships Construction: Basic - OICNW - Course #203
 
This 5 day course provides candidates with an understanding of the Theory and Calculations for Stability and Ships Construction for the OICNW.

Any applicant who has successfully completed your Ship Construction & Basic Stability (MARTPT-449) course will satisfy: 

  • The stability and ship construction training requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(xii) for an STCW endorsement as OICNW on vessels of 500 GT or more; AND
  • The stability and ship construction standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.309(a)(3) for an STCW endorsement as OICNW on vessels of 500 GT or more; AND
  • The stability and ship construction standards of competence required by 11.317(a)(2) for an STCW endorsement as master of vessels of less than 500 GT limited to near­ coastal waters; AND
  • The stability and ship construction standards of competence required by 11.319(a)(3) for an STCW endorsement as OICNW of vessels of less than 500 GT; AND
  • The stability and ship construction standards of competence required by 11.321(a)(2) for an STCW endorsement as OICNW of vessels of less than 500 GT limited to near­ coastal waters; AND
  • The stability and ship construction standards of competence required by STCW Code Sections A-II/1 and 3, and Tables A-II/1 and 3, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from:
    • NVIC 12-14(Ch-2) Tasks 10.1, 11.3, 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, and 13.4; AND o NVIC 13-14(Ch-1) Tasks 8.1.A, 8.2.A, 8.3.A, and 8.4.A; AND
    • NVIC 02-18 Tasks 10.1.A, 11.3.A, 13.1.A, 13.2.A, 13.3.A, and 13.4.A.

Applicants who have successfully completed your course need not present completed "Task Control Sheets" for these assessments in application for STCW certification.
