Preparing for Train the Trainer (Classroom)

Course Description

Completion of this course or an Assessor course will be required for onboard Assessors on or after January 1, 2017! This is the USCG Approved Train the Trainer Course based on the IMO Model Course 6.09. This course is 40 hours in length and is approved and taught under license from T.U.G. Training Unlimited Group. Any applicant who has successfully this course will satisfy the Train the Trainer and Assessor training requirements of 46 CFR 10.402(b)(2)(iii)(A), 10.405(a) and CFR 10.407(c)(5)(i). This course is also approved as satisfying the requirements for instructors and assessors as stated in Section A-I/6, paragraph 7, of the STCW Code, as amended 2010 and the guidance regarding Qualified Instructors as stated in NVIC 03-14, and Qualified Assessors as stated in NVIC 19-14. Students are encouraged to bring a laptop computer as the student will be developing a presentation and lesson plan during the course. A laptop computer is not required as all the materials may be prepared on paper. However, it is strongly recommended. A laptop may be rented from MPT for the course.

Required Materials

PASSPORT or National Photo ID, Paper, Pencil, Pen, and Highlighter. Students are encouraged to bring a laptop computer as the student will be developing a presentation and lesson plan during the course. A laptop computer is not required as all the materials may be prepared on paper. However, it is strongly recommended. A laptop may be rented from MPT for the course.
