This two day class is designed to enhance the knowledge and skill level of watchstanding crewmembers (rating) on superyachts.
This 2 day course is designed to familiarize yacht crew with Watchstanding Techniques and is appropriate for everyone who will be working in any department on private and charter super yachts. Topics Include: Types of Vessels, Types of Propulsion, Basic Navigation Rules (Lights & Shapes), Basic Conduct of Vessels in Passing, Meeting, & Overtaking Situations, IALA A & B Buoyage Systems, Understanding Latitude/Longitude, Introduction to the Compass, Fixing your position with GPS and Visual Bearings, Simulation Exercises, familiarization of bridge electronics, safely transit the ICW, Personal Safety Underway, Communications, Transiting Weather Decks, Recognizing/Reporting Hazards, Safety Patrols, Work Vests/PFD’s, Recognized MOB procedures, Instructor will demonstrate tying bowline and clove hitch and describe how to tie a line to a cleat, mooring lines, duties of lookout, CBDR identification and reporting, VRM/EBL, standing orders, etc.
