The course is USCG Approved in lieu of the written examination at the Coast Guard towards the issuance of a QMED Oiler Rating for those who qualify. This course will also give you 34 days sea service credit towards your Oiler endorsement.

COURSE APPROVAL:
Any applicant who has successfully completed the QMED-Oiler (MARTPT-387) course within one year of application will satisfy the examination requirements of 46 CFR 12.501(c)(5) and Table 1 to 46 CFR 12.505(c) for a national rating endorsement as QMED-Oiler AND receive credit for 34 days sea service toward a QMED-Oiler endorsement.
A course certificate may be used for one application which results in the issuance of an endorsement and may not be used for any application transactions thereafter.
Additional information for application:
146 days Sea Service within 1 year of completion for examination credit
RFPEW (only for STCW A-II/4 endorsement - not required for domestic QMED)
15 day class in Fort Lauderdale
