Course Description

Flashing Light/Visual Signaling Communications - Course #207

This 1/2 day course serves as an alternative to testing at the USCG for Morse Code by Flashing Light Signaling and is designed to review the format of the exam and related publications. If you would like to test at the end of this course, we recommend that you study any Flashing Light Software (can be found online) before taking this course by requesting a copy of your software be sent to you prior to starting the class.  

This course will satisfy the Visual Signaling training requirements:

  • The Visual Signaling training requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(vi) and 11.319(a) (4)(vi), AND
  • The assessment tasks 8.1 and 8.2 in NVICs 12-14 (Ch-2) and 02-18 for an STCW, as amended 2010, for an endorsement as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch.

Applicants who have successfully completed this course need not present completed Task Control Sheets for these assessments in application for STCW certification.
