STCW Basic Training Refresher Course

The basic training refresher course provides refresher of basic maritime personal survival techniques and fire fighting prevention as well as a review of personal social and safety responsibilities, first aid. This STCW refresher course is for mariners who do not have one year of sea time within the last five years.

Course Description

This course is approved by the United States Coast Guard and accepted by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

USCG

Any applicant who successfully completes the Basic Training Refresher MARTPT-68) course will satisfy the continued competency requirements for STCW Basic Training in STCW, as amended 2010, Basic Training in Section A-VI/1, 46 CFR 11.302(e) and 46 CFR 12.602(e), AND, all of the tasks from the National Assessment Guidelines found in NVIC 08-14. Applicants are not required to present completed Record of Assessment Sheets when applying for an STCW endorsement. This three-day, 24 hours training course provides refresher/revalidation training to seafarers in Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR), Elementary First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (EFA). Personal Survival Techniques (PST), and Basic Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (BFF).

 

MCA

The MCA accepts this training for refresher of STCW Basic Training.

 

NOTE: If you are taking an STCW Basic Training Renewal/Revalidation for a country other than the United States, please verify with your maritime administration/flag state that they will accept this course. Some countries may require a longer course every five years and certain administrations may not recognize a course taken in the United States.
