Course Description

Auxiliary Equipment - Part 1 - Small Vessel Course # 442SV

This course is part of the 3 modules required to obtain the MCA Small Vessel Second Engineer qualification.

This is a 6 day course. A Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Written Exam is administered at MPT in a 2-hour prescribed format on the 6th day of the course.

  • Hydraulic and pneumatic control principles
  • Refrigeration and air conditioning
  • Steering gears
  • Propulsion
  • Transmission and shafting
  • Electrical plant.

It is strongly recommended that candidates are well prepared for the exam by obtaining the course notes early and studying them thoroughly.
