MCA Advanced Firefighting UPDATE Course
This four hour MCA course meets all the requirements for revalidating a MCA Advanced Firefighting certificate.
Under the new STCW 2010 requirements for training and certification, holders of an advanced fire fighting certificate will require updated proficiency training in advanced fire fighting every five years.
PREREQUISITES:
The course is limited to those personnel who already have the advanced firefighting certification as well as maintained 1 year of sea time within the last 5 years and students are required to have undertaken the basic firefighting course within the previous five years.
Students will have to sign a Self Declaration statement that the above requirements have been met.
Course provides the necessary knowledge update to meet STCW code, Table A-VI/3 and satisfies the MCA requirement for updated training every 5 years.
Course Description
Upon completion of this course the students will be able to develop a realistic shipboard fire prevention program, effectively organize fire teams and respond to fires aboard their ship and have an understanding of the effects of firefighting water on their vessel as well as fixed fire systems and fire investigation and risk analysis. Students must be present and participate in classroom sessions and discussion.
