Course Description
Maritime Security Awareness - Course# 561
This 4 hour Course is approved by the USCG. This course is open to all seafarers and has no training or experience prerequisites. It satisfies requirements for all seafarers to obtain maritime security awareness level training. If you are a seafarer listed on the station bill as having specific duties related to security or as the ship security officer, please see alternative courses or contact an MPT Career Counselor for guidance.
Any applicant who has successfully completed your Maritime Security Awareness (MARTPT-561) course will satisfy:
- The security awareness requirements of 46 CFR 12.627(a)(l); AND
- The standards of competence required by Section A-VI/6 paragraphs 1-4 and Table A Vl/6-1 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 21-14.
