Basic Fire Fighting & Fire Prevention - Course #144
This 2 day course is one of the four modules of STCW Basic Safety Training. There are no tonnage limits on this course and it will satisfy STCW VI-1-2. This course includes both theory taught in the classroom and practical training and assessments with live fire scenarios.
Any applicant who successfully completes successfully completes Basic Fire Fighting (MARTPT-53) course will satisfy the following:
- Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting per STCW Code Section A-VI/1;
- Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting per 46 CFR 11.302(a)(2) and 46 CFR 12.602(a)(2);
- Basic Fire Fighting per 46 CFR 11.201(h)(2) [Basic only] and 46 CFR 11.201(h)(3); and
- The Fire Fighting requirements for a national tankerman endorsement in 46 CFR 13.201(c)(3), 13.301(c)(3); 13.401(d) and 13.501(c)(3); and
- The equivalent of the specific TASKs from the Basic Fire Fighting section of the Basic Training NVIC 08-14.
- The following Fire Fighting tasks from NVIC 12-14(Ch-2) and NVIC 02-18: 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.4, and 19.2.A
Applicants need not submit completed Task Control sheets in application for an STCW endorsement.
