MPT Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month With Successful 3rd Annual Pink Passion Day
Maritime Professional Training hosted the 3rd Annual Pink Passion Day at the campus on Tuesday October 16th to help raise awareness and monies for the fight against Breast Cancer. Pink Passion Day encourages faculty, current and past students, and supporters of the school and to wear pink on the day in honor of Breast Cancer Month. This year’s Pink Passion Day theme was Pink Pirates. Photos from Pink Passion Day are available on the MPT Face Book page (www.facebook.com/mptusa).
“This is MPT’s way to help raise both awareness and funds during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a fun, easy and everyone gets involved to show our support for the fight against breast cancer,” said Lisa Morley, MPT VP of Sales & Marketing. The 30 year old maritime school is donating five dollars for everyone who visited the school on Pink Passion Day proudly wearing their pink and will continue to use the month to collect donations for the American Cancer Society (ACS). “We’re committed to this cause and we’re very happy that so many of our friends, student and our faculty joined us again for Pink Passion Day!” noted Morley.
Total donations over the past few years have exceeded $10,000 and MPT will continue its fundraising efforts throughout the month for the American Cancer Society. On behalf of the school and its supporters Morley says, “We’re supporting American Cancer Society because of their great work in the fight against all forms of cancer. They are doing phenomenal things both on the research frontlines and for cancer survivors and their families.” Additionally this year, as part of its commitment to cancer support organizations, MPT donated a 34-foot sail boat to “Precious Passages” – a non-profit group offering cancer relaxation programs. Women with breast cancer, whether study participants, or others who want to improve their quality of life, are welcome to use the effects of wave motion to their reduce stress.
