271 Auxiliary Machinery - $ 2,999.00
This is a 120 Hour simulator and workshop course and will cover marine engineering topics at the operational level per STCW Section A-III/1 and Table A-III/1.
Any applicant who successfully completed all modules of the Auxiliary Machinery (MARTPT-862) course will:
NOTE: Students can have the following tasks signed off at the descretion of a Qualified Assessor (QA). NVIC 17-14 Tasks: 11.1.A, 11.2.A, 11.3.A, and 11.4.A
Each student who successfully completes this course will demonstrate the background knowledge and practical work to support operation and maintenance of equipment, in areas such as:
* Basic construction and operation principles of auxiliary machinery systems;
* Safety and emergency procedures for operation of auxiliary propulsion plant machinery including control systems:
* Preparation, operation, fault detection and necessary measures to prevent damage for auxiliary machinery items and control systems
* Complete NVIC 17-14 Tasks: see above
Pre-Req - Mariner must have 180 days of service in a rating at least equal to that of a wiper or coal passer including: Electrician/Refrigerating Engineer; Oiler; Fireman/Watertender; Junior Engineer; Pumpman/Machinist; QMED – any rating.
You will be required to show ID (a passport is preferred). You should bring Paper, pencil and highlighters for notes. Candidates taking this course are required to bring the following clothing for the practical workshop assessments: Shirt with long sleeves, long pants and closed toed shoes or equivalent safety shoes. MPT will provide the use of a welding mask/goggles, welding gloves/jacket, work gloves, eye protection, and ear protection. Candidates are welcome to bring their own equipment if desired.
