Basic Fire Fighting & Fire Prevention - Course #144
 
This 2 day course is one of the four modules of STCW Basic Safety Training. There are no tonnage limits on this course and it will satisfy STCW VI-1-2. This course includes both theory taught in the classroom and practical training and assessments with live fire scenarios utilizing the MPT Marine Tech Fire Academy.
 
Any applicant who successfully completes successfully completes Basic Fire Fighting (MARTPT-53) course will satisfy the following:
  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting per STCW Code Section A-VI/1;
  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting per 46 CFR 11.302(a)(2) and 46 CFR 12.602(a)(2);
  • Basic Fire Fighting per 46 CFR 11.201(h)(2) [Basic only] and 46 CFR 11.201(h)(3); and
  • The Fire Fighting requirements for a national tankerman endorsement in 46 CFR 13.201(c)(3), 13.301(c)(3); 13.401(d) and 13.501(c)(3); and
  • The equivalent of the specific TASKs from the Basic Fire Fighting section of the Basic Training NVIC 08-14.
  • The following Fire Fighting tasks from NVIC 12-14(Ch-2) and NVIC 02-18: 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.4, and 19.2.A

Applicants need not submit completed Task Control sheets in application for an STCW endorsement.

Advanced Fire Fighting STCW

Advanced Fire Fighting - Course #145
 

This 4 day course utilizes the MPT Marine Tech Fire Academy and focuses on meeting the minimum standard of competence in advanced firefighting. A trainee will be competent in:

  • Control fire-fighting operations aboard ships
  • Organize and train fire parties
  • Ability to inspect and service fire detection and fire extinguishing systems and equipment.
  • Able to investigate and compile reports on incidents involving fire.

Any applicant who has successfully completed Advanced Fire Fighting (MARTPT-15) course will satisfy the following:

  • The Advanced Fire Fighting training requirements of 46 CFR 11.303(a); AND
  • The equivalent of all Tasks from the Advanced Fire Fighting NVIC 09-14; AND
  • Task17.3 from NVlCs 10-14, 11-14 and 03-18; AND
  • Tasks 9.1.A-9.4.A from NVIC 13-14; AND
  • Tasks 13.1.B and 13.1.C from NVICs 15-14 and 16-14; AND
  • Task 12.1.A from NVIC 17-14; AND
  • The Advanced Fire Fighting training requirements of Section A-VI/3 and Table A-Vl/3 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010.

Applicants who have successfully completed your course need not present completed "Task Control Sheets" for these assessments in application for STCW certification.

MCA Advanced Firefighting

Advanced Fire Fighting - Course #413
 
This course is Approved by the MCA for Advanced Fire fighting Certification.  This course will satisfy the STCW requirements as outlined in A-VI/3 and includes both theory and practical training and assessments. This course utilizes the MPT Marine Tech Fire Academy. 
 
Prerequisites:
Basic Fire fighting
6 months of sea service
be medically fit to undertake the course
