New 2012 Maritime Salary Review Shows Salaries Up and Experience Is Key

Faststream Recruitment Group has released its 2012 Maritime Salary Review. An international specialist in maritime employment recruiting and placement with offices in Southampton in the U.K., Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the U.S., West Perth in Australia and Singapore, the company surveyed over 4,000 shipping industry professionals globally.  Their findings just released show that salaries are up despite the economic circumstances, skilled worker shortages and various other challenges facing the industry.

The comprehensive survey shows 2011 vs. 2012 salaries, salaries by vessel type, by years of experience and job title in addition to other informative categories. A key finding, in addition to the noted increase in salaries is that experience makes a difference in earnings ability and according to MPT’s Amy Beavers, anyone looking for a strong career in the maritime industry should be building their training and education as the first step to gaining the experience needed to strengthen their earning potential.
