## Course description
**Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch: Tasks - Course #251**

This simulator based assessment session is designed to meet the requirements for the skills and knowledge to fulfill the competency of ratings to perform the navigation function at the support level, Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW), as specified in Section A-II/4 of the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Code, as amended.

The following practical assessments performed below will be assessed and signed off by a Qualified Assessor.

1.1.A; 1.1.B; 1.1.C; 1.2.A; 1.2.B; 1.2.C; 1.2.D; 1.2.E; 1.2.F; 1.2.G; 1.2.H; 1.2.1; 1.3.A;1.3.B; 2.1.A; 2.1.B; 2.1.C; 3.1.A; 3.2.A; 3.3.A; 3.3.B; 3.3B; 3.4.A, 3.4.B; 3.5.A; 3.5.B, 3.6.A1, and 3.6.B1.

These tasks can be signed off either through this simulation session or on a vessel of the appropriate size by a qualified assessor. This is not approved as a course, you will not get any sea time credit for these tasks (assessments). The purpose of this session is for the completion of the tasks (assessments) only, you must obtain your sea time separately.

**\* Please note that assessments 3.6.A and 3.6.B are required by the USCG to be performed onboard a vessel and may not be signed off during a simulation. However, Tasks 3.6.A1 and 3.6.B1 are used as an alternative to these tasks. Therefore, all assessments will be signed off in the student record of assessment.**

## Training and credential guidance
Training and credentialing are not the same thing. Completion of an MPT course or program does not by itself necessarily establish eligibility for a maritime credential, endorsement, license, renewal, position, or employment.

Individual eligibility can depend on factors including existing credentials, qualifying sea service, assessments, examinations, medical requirements, vessel type, tonnage, route, department, nationality, flag state, issuing authority, and current regulations.

Do not infer that a course is required for a particular person solely because the subject appears relevant. Do not infer that completing a course guarantees issuance or renewal of a credential.

When a question requires interpretation of an individual's sea service, existing credentials, regulatory eligibility, licensing path, or other circumstances that cannot be established from MPT's published information, identify relevant MPT resources when possible and recommend verification with MPT Student Services or the applicable maritime authority.

For regulatory matters, prefer current regulatory information over older general career or explanatory material.

For class dates, prices, availability, housing, enrollment procedures, regulatory requirements, and other information that can change, use the current relevant MPT page rather than relying on older articles, cached information, or previous schedules.

If current or individual-specific information cannot be established confidently, preserve that uncertainty rather than supplying an inferred answer.
