CSO / VSO / SSO Course with STCW certification
This USCG/MARAD/DNV approved training course will provide the knowledge required for personnel to conduct the duties of a Company Security/Vessel Security Officer (CSO/VSO) in accordance with the requirements of the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 (MTSA), and Standards for Training, Certification, and Watch Keeping (STCW) 1978, Amended. Those who successfully complete this course will be capable of undertaking the responsibilities of Company Security/Vessel Security Officers, as defined in 33CFR 104.210 & 104.215, and SOLAS Ch Xl-2 Part A-11, 12 (CSO/SSO) of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

Who Really Needs a STCW Approved VSO/SSO? |
The IMO STCW requirement for Ship Security Officers (SSO) and
MTSA Vessel Security Officers (VSO), applies to all U.S. and
International Seafarers subject to STCW 1978, Amended, provided
these seafarers are presently designated in writing as a SSO/VSO
in an approved Ship/Vessel Security Plan.

The course covers competences to be achieved -- Historical Perspective, Current Security Threats and Patterns, Maritime Security Policy, Threat Identification, Recognition and Response, Security Equipment, Security Responsibilities, Vessel/Ship Security Plan, Emergency Preparedness, Vessel/Ship Security Actions, Security Administration and Safety Training.
In addition, this course will cover the new Transportation Workers Identity Credential (TWIC) compliance requirements as per the recent addition to MTSA, 33 CFR, Chapter I, Subchapter H. Upon successfully completion, a MARAD approved CSO/VSO Course Certificate will be issued.
